EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) Ethereum का heart है। यह एक global computer है जो दुनिया भर के thousands of nodes पर simultaneously run होती है। हर smart contract इसी EVM में execute होती है।
Simple analogy: EVM एक standardized OS की तरह है। जैसे Android app हर Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi phone पर same way run होती है — Ethereum smart contract हर node पर identically execute होता है। यह consistency ही trust create करती है।
Technical brief: - Stack-based virtual machine - Turing-complete (can compute anything, given enough resources) - Deterministic (same input = same output always) - Sandboxed (smart contract host system access नहीं कर सकती)
Why EVM matters:
EVM ने एक standard set किया जो industry-wide adopt हुआ। Today कई "EVM-compatible" chains हैं: - Polygon (Layer 2) - Arbitrum (Layer 2) - Optimism (Layer 2) - BNB Smart Chain - Avalanche C-Chain - Fantom
EVM-compatible का मतलब: Ethereum के लिए लिखी smart contracts इन chains पर भी run हो सकती हैं (minor changes के साथ)। Developer reuse, ecosystem benefits।
Gas mechanism in EVM: EVM की हर operation का एक gas cost है — simple addition cheap (3 gas), complex storage write expensive (20,000 gas)। User submits transaction with gas limit + gas price; total ETH cost = gas used × gas price।
Real example: - Simple ETH transfer: 21,000 gas - ERC-20 token transfer: ~50,000 gas - Uniswap swap: ~150,000 gas - NFT mint: ~80,000 gas
At 30 gwei gas price + ETH at $3,000: - Transfer: ~$2 - Swap: ~$13 - NFT mint: ~$7
Ethereum mainnet expensive है। Layer 2s इसी समस्या को solve करते हैं — same EVM, 90-99% cheaper।
Why high fees? EVM serialized — एक time पर एक operation। 15 TPS only। Throughput limit + demand = high fees। Layer 2s parallel execution + batching से throughput बढ़ाते हैं।
Indian context: - ETH mainnet fees Indian retail के लिए painful (₹500-2000 per transaction) - Polygon (Indian-founded by Sandeep Nailwal, Jaynti Kanani, Anurag Arjun) cheap alternative — ₹2-5 per tx - Most Indian DeFi users Polygon prefer करते हैं cost के कारण - Polygon's MATIC token Indian exchanges पर easily available
