NFT Scams से कैसे बचें
Wash trading, fake collections, malicious mint sites — NFT scam landscape।
NFT space scams से भरा है। 95% projects abandoned/scams। यह checklist help करेगी before-purchase verification में।
Common NFT scam types:
1. Wash trading। Creators खुद-से buy/sell करते हैं price/volume fake दिखाने के लिए। Looks like hot collection, retail buys, creators dump।
2. Fake collections। Real collection (BAYC, etc.) के imitations। Same art, slightly different name।
3. Rug pulls। Mint launch, money collected, project abandoned। Roadmap promises forgotten।
4. Phishing sites। Fake "limited mint" pages। Connect wallet → drain funds।
5. Malicious "free" mints। Free NFT claim → wallet approval requested → all funds drained।
6. Discord hacks। Project Discord compromised → fake mint announcements → users lose funds।
7. Celebrity scams। Fake "exclusive drop" using stolen IP।
Verification checklist before buying:
1. Verified checkmark। OpenSea blue checkmark = somewhat verified। Not 100% reliable पर helpful filter।
2. Smart contract address। Compare with official project page। Even 1 character difference = fake।
3. Creator history। Other collections by same creator? Track record?
4. Volume verification। Sudden volume spike = wash trading suspicion। Sustained organic volume = real interest।
5. Twitter/Discord activity। Real users engaging? Or just bots/scammers?
6. Floor price + sales history। Consistent prices vs cherry-picked high sales?
7. Roadmap clarity। Vague promises = red flag। Specific deliverables with timelines = better।
8. Team transparency। Anonymous founders = higher risk। Public team members = lower risk।
9. Smart contract audit। Audited by reputable firm?
10. Community sentiment। Long-term active vs FOMO-driven hype?
Wallet security for NFT users:
1. Burner wallet। Separate MetaMask wallet for risky mints। Main holdings on hardware wallet।
2. Approval limits। Don't approve "unlimited" — only specific amounts।
3. Token approval checker। Use revoke.cash regularly to revoke old approvals।
4. Suspicious site URLs। Always verify (opensea.io vs opensea.10 vs opensea-mint.com)।
5. Direct site access। Never click "free mint" links in Discord/Twitter DMs।
Indian-specific NFT scams:
1. Bollywood/celebrity NFT scams। Fake "official" NFTs of Indian celebs। Real ones rare।
2. Cricket NFT scams। Match-related fake drops।
3. Indian artist impersonation। Stealing local artists' work and selling as NFTs।
4. WhatsApp group recommendations। "Buy this Indian NFT before launch" — usually creators' wash trading।
If you fall victim:
1. Don't click "recovery" links। Secondary scam targeting victims। 2. Document everything। Screenshots, transaction IDs। 3. Report on cybercrime.gov.in। 4. File local FIR if significant loss। 5. Block scammer accounts।
Reality: Recovery rare। Prevention >> remediation।
Indian tax impact of scams: Lost NFTs → no tax deduction। Effectively pay for the scam + pay tax on any small profits you made elsewhere।
Bottom line: NFT space caveat emptor (buyer beware)। Most projects fail। Treat purchases as expensive entertainment। Never put more than disposable money।
