Volume Analysis
Volume price moves को confirm या deny करती है। Volume confirmation के बिना breakouts अक्सर fail होती हैं।
Volume = एक period में traded amount। Most retail traders price देखते हैं — volume ignore करते हैं। पर pros जानते हैं: volume = truth, price = opinion।
Why volume matters:
1. Confirms breakouts। Price breaks resistance with high volume = real move। Low volume = likely fake।
2. Indicates conviction। High volume = many traders agreeing। Low volume = sleepy market।
3. Predicts reversals। Volume divergence often precedes price reversal।
4. Shows accumulation/distribution। Whales accumulating quietly visible in volume patterns।
Volume terminology:
- Trading volume: total coins/dollars traded in period
- Volume bar: under price chart, height = volume
- Volume profile: horizontal volume distribution across prices
- VWAP: Volume Weighted Average Price
Volume + Price = 4 scenarios:
1. Price up + Volume up = STRONG BULLISH। - Trend confirmed - Conviction high - Likely continuation
2. Price up + Volume down = WEAKENING TREND। - Rally losing steam - Reversal possible - Caution warranted
3. Price down + Volume up = STRONG BEARISH। - Selling pressure real - Decline likely continues
4. Price down + Volume down = CAPITULATION FATIGUE। - Sellers exhausting - Reversal possible
Practical applications:
Breakout confirmation:
BTC breaks $75K resistance। Check volume: - 1.5x average volume = strong breakout, enter - Average volume = uncertain, wait - Below average = likely fake, avoid
Volume divergence:
BTC making new highs ($75K → $77K → $79K) but volume decreasing each high। Divergence = trend weakening। Prepare for reversal।
Volume Profile (advanced):
Shows volume distribution across prices। High Volume Nodes (HVN) = strong support/resistance। Low Volume Nodes (LVN) = price tends to move through fast।
Indian context — volume on Indian exchanges:
Reality check: Indian exchange volumes much lower than global: - CoinDCX BTC daily volume: ~₹50-100 crore - Binance global BTC daily volume: ~₹50,000+ crore (1000x larger)
Implications: - Indian exchange charts less reliable for global TA - Use BTC/USD on global exchanges for true volume picture - Indian price often follows global, slight lag
Volume tools:
- TradingView built-in volume indicators
- Volume Profile (paid feature, but worth for serious traders)
- On-Balance Volume (OBV) indicator
- Accumulation/Distribution Line
Common mistakes:
1. Ignoring volume entirely। Price-only analysis missing critical info।
2. Wrong comparison base। Today's volume vs yesterday — too short। 30-day average more meaningful।
3. Day-of-week effects। Weekend volumes lower (institutional traders off)। Compare like-to-like।
4. Whale wash trading। Some exchanges fake volumes। Use Coinbase/Binance/Kraken for reliable data।
5. Overreliance on single volume spike। One day high volume could be news-driven, not trend।
Strategic use:
Entry timing: Wait for volume confirmation before entering breakouts। False breakouts cost more than missed opportunities।
Exit timing: Volume decline during rally = take partial profits।
Trend health: Weekly volume trending up with price = healthy trend। Diverging = caution।
Indian retail practical recommendation:
Don't obsess over Indian exchange volume directly। Use global BTC/USD chart on TradingView for primary analysis। Indian price will follow global within minutes/hours।
For day trading: volume crucial। For long-term holding: less critical।
Reality: No TA tool is 100% reliable। Volume adds context to price action — combined with S/R, candlesticks, indicators = comprehensive analysis framework।
